- In May 2004 the NPMA completed
its 47th annual conference,
held in Cleveland Ohio
with great assistance from our local hosts, the Cleveland
Plain Dealer.
During the Cleveland conference we recognized several members
with awards for outstanding contributions to our organization.
-
- The Corcoran award went to Tom
Miller, Strategic Sourcing Manager for Hearst in San
Antonio, Texas.
By a unanimous vote of those present at the conference, Dave Peden was awarded
an “Editor Emeritus” award for his long service to our newsletter.
-
- The Jim Dunning Award for the
best original article submitted from the membership
went to Ramsey Altman for “Cox Weighs in on Reverse
Auction” in March 2004 issue.
-
- Special Mention for an article
submitted by a board member went to Ginger Young for
“moving Beyond Basic P-Card Use” in November 2003 issue.
The People’s Choice Award for best conference presentation
by a member went to Cynthia Miller for “Re-engineering
Workflow/Paperless Distribution.”
Congratulations to our 2004 award winners!
-
- At the annual business meeting
the membership voted to change the bylaws. We opened
up the membership to non-newspaper entities such as
magazines and commercial printers related to newspaper
companies. For more information or leads for potential
new members contact the membership committee.
